About Me
I am a software engineer with a strong craftsman mentality. I enjoy building high-quality solutions to problems with the correct tools. I believe in constant improvement of myself and work to always improve the breadth and depth of my toolbox so that I never solve the wrong problem with the right solution or the right problem with the wrong solution.
Professionally, my skills lie in the back-end systems, databases, and API programming. Having worked in a start-up for three years - and having to wear many hats - I have also been exposed heavily to infrastructure management, DevOps, front-end programming, and systems, database, and product design.
In a former life, I worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade. During that career, I worked in most positions, but with a focus in the back of house/kitchen. My work in the industry has given me experience working successfully with people from many different backgrounds and temperaments, given me the ability to be successful even in high stress situations, and helped to hone my ability to easily adapt to change. In addition, my positions in management have allowed me to hone my leadership skills.
My personal interests include creative writing and world-building, cooking, playing games of all sorts, mathematics and physics, how people think and learn, and taking opportunities to learn and increase my personal knowledge base. I believe that the more knowledge a person has to draw from the greater their ability to solve problems of any sort.
